What the roof was like
A rear addition with an old built-up roof that held a permanent puddle near the drain, with blistered seams and a patched corner.
What made it hard
The roof had almost no slope toward the drain, so the water had nowhere to go. A parapet on two sides meant the membrane had to turn up cleanly without creating a new place to leak.
What we installed, and why
We added tapered insulation to create a fall toward the drain, mechanically fastened a white TPO membrane and heat welded every seam. The drain, parapet and corner details were done first and photographed before the field membrane covered them.
The result
Water now leaves the roof within a few hours of rain and the white surface keeps the room below cooler in summer.
