What the roof was like
A twelve year old asphalt roof on a south facing slope with good sun above the tree line.
What made it hard
The owners wanted solar but worried the roof would need replacing in a few years. We had to decide whether the roof could carry the array for the life of the system.
What we installed, and why
We inspected the decking and shingles, replaced two damaged courses, flashed every roof mount into the rafters and installed the racking and panels. We documented the roof condition with photos before the panels covered it.
The result
The array covers the south slope and the roof under it is documented, so future work can plan around it.
